Best Things to Do in Mexico City
Mexico City is an actual capital comparable to all other cities. It is called the City of Palaces because of its numerous majestic buildings, most of which are concentrated in the city center. It also has the most significant number of museums in the world. Located in one of the world’s most important historical centers (Centro Historico), the Plaza de la Constitucion is excellent to start sightseeing. The largest and oldest La Cathedral in the United States is here. The Gothic cathedral, dating back to the 16th century, has four facades and 16 chapels, each dedicated to different saints, and many altars, the main altar of pure gold.
Basílica de Guadalupe is the holiest place for Catholics in the Americas. It is a frequent destination for pilgrims who want to see Juan Diego’s Ponchos, including the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Nearby is a beautiful and quiet garden with an ornate chapel and a fountain, where Our Lady spoke with Juan Diego. Ciudad Universitaria is one of the largest universities in the world and was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.
